About Us

A Tradition of Service and Success

From its founding in 1965 as a small private school with 16 students, Didlake, Inc. has evolved into a major regional employer, a highly respected community rehabilitation program and an integral part of the Manassas/Prince William County business network.

More than seventy-five percent of our employees are people with disabilities.  Many others with disabilities use our services to find opportunities for training, education and job placement assistance in a competitive environment.

Today Didlake programs and services help more than 1,400 people annually.

Creating Opportunities for Work

Based in Manassas, Virginia, Didlake owns and operates a collection of small businesses and a job placement service.  These businesses provide copy and mailroom operations, custodial, grounds keeping and other administrative services to government agencies and commercial businesses.  Our customers include Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, shopping malls, and government agencies.

A Valued Partnership with the Federal Government

Much of Didlake’s impressive growth is due to contracts it has won through the Javits-Wagner-O’Day (JWOD) Program.  This federal program promotes the purchase of goods and services produced by workers with severe disabilities. Didlake has been selected to do work at many government sites, including the Pentagon, the Department of Energy, the Army National Guard, and the Peace Corps. Our success in providing contracted services that meet and exceed the expectations of our customers has resulted in numerous awards and citations.

Training and Education

While our primary aim is to place as many people as possible in competitive employment within the community, some individuals are better served by other options.  In 1996, Didlake established the Community Inclusion Program (CIP) - a day support program to provide these options to people with more severe disabilities.

The Community Inclusion Program is Didlake’s fastest growing program.   It seeks to integrate individuals with severe disabilities into the community by offering choices in daily activity tailored to each person’s needs and abilities. Participants may choose from among art and music therapy, life skills training, and part-time employment options. CIP sites are located throughout Northern Virginia and in the Roanoke Valley.

Community Involvement

The Didlake Foundation encourages community involvement in the philanthropic support of Didlake, Inc.’s programs and facility needs. A primary focus of the Foundation is the development of programs and services to meet the long-term needs of people with disabilities who outlive their primary caregivers.
